PLANNING OUR TRIP TO GREECE

Welcome back to the Friends That Carry On Podcast! We're a group of friends that like to travel the world together. We want to share our passion for travel through travel tips and tricks we've picked up along away and stories of our adventures!

For Episode 11,Eric Fargo is our host and tchotchke holder, and he’s joined this week alongside Tony Price, Brian Romine, Jim Scott, Walt Palmer, and Shelly Price. This episode is about our most recent trip in May to Greece and we'll talk about the planning of the Greece trip, the 30,000 foot of Athens, and the city; and next week we’ll talk about the islands of Greece. Our tchotchke this episode is the Greek flag. It’s not the flag pictured below, it’s a smaller version, since Eric Fargo collects flags from other countries, but this picture gives you an idea with what it looks like full sized.

You can listen along here:

We started off the episode with discussing how we planned the trip and how the idea even came about. We go into why we decided the time of year, what we decided to do, and how we went about planning it out. When planning out a trip, it’s important to keep in mind what the weather will be like because the different seasons can really affect all aspects of the planning. We also discussed how we go about planning the trip together, as a group of 5, even though we all take different flights and connect through different cities.

We then continued into arriving in Greece, our first thoughts seeing the city, and settling in Athens for a couple nights that kicked off our adventure. When we first thought about Greece, we knew they had economy issues, but we didn’t realize how drastic the effects it had on the country itself. It’s easy to not realize how bad it is until you see it in person. We discussed the impact it had on us and on the tourism in that country.

The Acropolis of Athens Ruins in Greece

We continued talking about what we did there and other things you can do in the city. Athens isn’t a place that has a lot of things to do, but if you enjoy relaxing and eating then it’s perfect for that. We also talked about our visit to the Acropolis, which was visible from almost everywhere in the city, and when we recommend going. We also visited the Acropolis Museum, which we found to be a great insight into what the Acropolis used to look like. We wrapped up the podcast talking about the Sky Bar we went to as well as some of the food you can expect to eat in Greece.

Here are some links to the places we personally used (and recommend!) in Athens:
