In this episode Jim Scott leads Friends Brian and Tony as they welcomed one our travel experts, Tom Karnes from LaMacchia Travel in Kenosha Wisconsin as we discuss where folks can travel to as the country and the world begin to re-open from the pandemic. Tom is a travel industry veteran, and his family has been helping people book trips for over 100 years.
Tom shares that right now a lot of people are starting to travel domestically (US) and heading to Mexico and The Caribbean as these countries and resorts begin to re-open. Some of the resorts have begun to open, at different capacities and have set up COVID policies for handling traveler safety. As always check first for availability and any travel restrictions between countries. Obviously, this is a fluid situation, with more and more countries opening, so always check first before booking. Tom and LaMacchia can help you with any questions you may have.
Panama sounds fantastic, and after talking with Tom, we cannot wait to book a trip. Tom mentions all the great places to eat…. The country and main city of Panama City is very modern, so you are never at a loss for things to do. Much like a lot of modern cities street food vendors are popular and Tom says that Panama does not disappoint. Tom mentions some of the top resorts and hotels to stay when there as well as some day trip opportunities, including visiting the Panama Canal, great beaches and even hiking in the mountains.
Merida, Mexico is in the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula and Tom highly recommends going there. Tons of history, including the Mayan History and ruins, also lots of great food, including street vendors as well. Tune into the podcast or read the transcript to hear about specific hotels/ resorts. I am looking forward to maybe booking a trip for the first of the year when they do their annual celebration of the founding of their city, it sounds like a fantastic time.
