Welcome back to the Friends That Carry On Podcast! We’re a group of friends that like to travel the world together. We want to share our passion for travel through travel tips and tricks we’ve picked up along away and stories of our adventures!
In Episode 3, Tony Price is the holder of the tchotchke, joined along with Jim Scott, Eric Fargo, and Brian Romine, and they’ll be discussing Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany as well as some tips on how to travel during the busy times of year.
You can listen along here:
First, we discussed the history of Oktoberfest, including how it got started, and then talked about our history of how the Friends initially started going to Oktoberfest. We continued to talk about the different tent themes, including the food and table set up, and the process of reserving a table. We also talk about the in’s and out’s of Oktoberfest, including how they feel about dancing on tables and the incredible strength of the waitresses carrying trays of beer!
Since we’re obviously all about making friends, we naturally start talking about the new friends we made on our past trips to Oktoberfest. Some of these new friends even ended up knowing more about Tony’s wife Shelley then Tony or Shelley initially thought! If that doesn’t make sense to you, just listen to find out what we mean! We wrapped up our discussion about the experience of Oktoberfest by talking about the Festival itself, including the carnival rides, food, and the general layout.
The second half of this episode we talk about some tips when traveling during peak travel seasons or times, like summer or during festivals/events such as Oktoberfest. We each discuss different tips including just how to be more mentally prepared when traveling during certain seasons, if you can’t avoid it. We wrapped up the episode by giving some advice based off of our past experience when we traveled during busy times ourselves.
