The friends discuss The Greek Isle of Santorini. On this podcast Jim S., Terry Hall, Tony, Eric and Brian all join in to discuss one of the most beautiful islands in the world.
Most of us arrived via ferry and were awed by the beauty of the volcanic island as we approached and saw what looked like snowcap mountain tops, but instead were all the white buildings that line the top of the volcanic hills. We discuss the swayback trip up the steep hills, and Eric getting dropped off at the wrong hotel and scrambling back to catch us before we drove off again.
Learn about some of the fantastic hotels we stayed in, the great food that was enjoyed and great night life in Fira.
We discuss day trips where the gang toured 3 vineyards and had a private sommelier explain the different wines and showed us how different foods pare well or bad depending on the wine. Within the same tour we got to visit the archaeological excavation site of Alkitira. An amazing step back in time that was preserved, much like Pompei, when the volcano erupted 5000 years ago, maybe one of the biggest volcanic explosions in the history of Earth.
Other day trips discussed was a sunset catamaran cruise that lasted for 7-8 hours and included food and beverages and a gorgeous sunset. Day trips to the village of Oia, and Red, Black and White Beaches. So much to do, almost all with incredible views of the Aegean Sea. Lots of great restaurants, bars and shops throughout Fira and Oia. Something for everyone. We can’t wait to go back!
