Welcome back to the Friends That Carry On Podcast! We’re a group of friends that like to travel the world together. We want to share our passion for travel through travel tips and tricks we’ve picked up along the way and stories of our adventures!
For Episode 5, Jim Scott is the host and tchotchke holder, and he’s joined alongside Eric Fargo, Walt Palmer, Tony Price, and Brian Romine and we’ll be talking about things to do in London, such as: how to get around London, different tour sites, and other things to do (including a special ceremony – Ceremony of Keys) and then we’ll wrap up with a travel tip.
You can listen along here:
First we discussed how to get around London and the different types of transportation that’s available, including how easy it is and how cost effective it might be. We also talked about the best options between taxi, buses, subway, or Uber. This also (somehow?) led to us talking about bars and pubs and their unusual closing times.
We continued the discussion by talking about different tour sites and tour highlights that are available and what we’ve personally experienced when visiting London. Tony talks about his experience with different tours and the ones that really stuck out to him as unique and interesting. Jim then talks about some of his tour experiences and different places that stuck out to him, including the pub The Grape, which is owned by a certain famous Grey Wizard..
Jim also highlights the tchotchke and the origins of where he got it, at a Gin Distillery. (See pictures and read more about the origins of the tchotchke here) Jim then continues about the Changing of the Keys ceremony at the Tower of London and what that tour experience was like, going from the Tower of London to the oldest Church in London, Old Hallows Church.
We then wrapped up the podcast with our travel tip, which is how you plan and what you do if your flight is cancelled or delayed. We share some of our experiences and tips for what we recommend doing based on our knowledge and experience. It’s an issue that anyone who flies can run into, so feel prepared next time it happens and don’t let it ruin your trip.
